OpenAI has launched a one-month free trial of ChatGPT Plus, available in India and the US. During this trial, users will have access to the latest AI features, and the plan is priced at approximately ₹2000.
Software company OpenAI has launched a limited-time promotional offer to attract users. With this offer, the company is giving away its premium subscription plan, ChatGPT Plus, for free for one month, a plan that typically costs around ₹2000. This offer is available in India and the US, and may be rolled out to other countries soon.
This is OpenAI’s second major promotion for Indian users. Previously, in November 2025, the company offered ChatGPT Go for free for one year in India. While free trials for subscriptions are not a new idea, this is the first time OpenAI has offered its main subscription plan, ChatGPT Plus, for free, making this offer unique.
Information revealed in select reports
The offer was first shared by Tibor Blaho, Lead Engineer at AIRPM, on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Live Hindustan has also verified this free trial in India, while BleepingComputer confirmed it in the US. This offer is available not only to new users but also to existing ChatGPT users.
Option to upgrade the plan available
Importantly, users who have never subscribed before can also take advantage of this free trial. If a user is already using a ChatGPT Go subscription, they can upgrade to the Plus plan. However, Indian users who previously received the 12-month free Go plan will not be able to revert to the Go plan after the Plus trial ends.
How to avail the free trial
To avail the free trial, users will be required to provide their payment details such as credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI information. If the user does not cancel the subscription on time, the charge for the next month may be automatically debited after the trial ends.

With a ChatGPT Plus subscription, users get advanced features such as priority access to the latest AI models, higher rate limits, Sora-powered video generation, expanded memory for better context, and Codex access for writing and understanding code. This plan normally costs ₹1,999 per month, so the one-month free trial is a great opportunity for users.
