News of new guidelines regarding the use of Airtel’s unlimited 5G data has surfaced, in which it is being claimed that users will not be able to share their unlimited 5G data with any other user.

Regarding Airtel’s unlimited 5G data offer, it is being claimed that the company has issued new guidelines for its crores of users. It is claimed that these guidelines have added new conditions regarding unlimited 5G data sharing. Airtel had announced unlimited 5G data offer in 2023. The company is offering unlimited 5G data to 5G smartphone users with select prepaid and postpaid plans.
According to the report, it is being claimed that Airtel has updated its terms and conditions regarding unlimited 5G data. Some users have shared screenshots of these new guidelines on social media platforms. However, there is no such condition for using unlimited 5G data on the company’s website.
What is the claim?
Reports have claimed that Airtel has told its users that unlimited 5G data cannot be shared with other users through hotspots. In the screenshot it says that unlimited 5G data is for personal and non-commercial use. You cannot share it with anyone else. However, we checked on Airtel’s website and found that no such page exists.
Advanced 5G service
Airtel had announced in November last year that the company was upgrading its 5G network. Users will now start getting 5G advanced service. For this, Airtel has started enabling dual-mode 5G network. It will provide Airtel users with existing non-stand alone (NSA) as well as stand alone (SA) based 5G service.
The company has started rolling out the advanced 5G service in different telecom circles of the country. Recently the company has installed 1500 new 5G mobile towers in Odisha Telecom Circle. Also, Airtel has also launched a Rs 399 prepaid plan for users, offering users unlimited data along with unlimited calling.
Users can use data in any network without any daily limit. However, the company has kept a limit of 300GB under the Fair Usage Policy i.e. FUP with this plan i.e. users can use a total of 300GB of data in full validity. Apart from this, according to TRAI guidelines, daily 100 free SMS can be availed.
