H-1B visa USA 2025: Due to the tough stance on immigration by the Donald Trump administration, the concern of foreign tech workers working in the US is increasing rapidly. Big companies like Amazon, Google, Apple, Microsoft have advised their visa-holding employees to avoid traveling outside the US as they may find it difficult to get re-entry.
According to a report by The Washington Post, several US law firms have warned that the rejection rate for high-skilled visas like H-1B and Green Card may increase.
Always carry documents with you – panic of tech workers
Malcolm Goeschl, the lead attorney at San Francisco-based law firm Goeschl Law, said that at this time we are only seeing anxiety and panic. The pace of the Trump administration is increasing and we do not know what will happen next.
The report mentions two tech workers from India who canceled their plans to travel to India as they fear that they may face visa hurdles in returning to the US.
One employee said that it is assumed here that every non-US citizen is living illegally. Another said that whenever we go out, we carry all our documents with us.
Trump supporters also divided on H-1B visa
There are differences among Trump supporters regarding the H-1B visa policy. On the one hand there are tech leaders who recruit talented immigrants, while on the other hand there are people who want to limit immigration to the US. This difference of opinion came to the fore on X (Twitter) in December 2024 when there was a debate between the two sides.

Amazon gets the most H-1B visa approvals in 2025
According to data from USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services), Amazon received 9,265 H-1B visa approvals for 2025, the highest. It is followed by Cognizant (6,321) and Google (5,364). Companies like Tesla, Meta, Apple, Microsoft, IBM also remained in the top list.
