Heavy Rain Alert: Delhiites got some relief from Friday’s rain and strong storm. There is a possibility of light rain today on Saturday 17 May. There is a possibility of rain in Northeast India. Winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 60 km per hour in Delhi. The day temperature is likely to be between 37 to 39 degree Celsius.

Heavy storm and lightning incidents occurred in Koraput, Ganjam, Jajpur, Gajapati and Dhenkanal districts of Odisha on Friday. 9 people including 6 women died in these. The state government has issued an alert in the affected areas.

Snowfall has been seen in the high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh and the effect of heavy rain and storm has been seen in other parts. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for 7 districts including Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Solan, Sirmaur till May 19.

Rain with strong winds is expected in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for the next 5 days. This is considered to be the initial knock of the southwest monsoon.
