LPG Price Hike: The central government has announced a hike in the prices of LPG gas cylinders today. The price of the cylinder has been increased by Rs 50. Earlier, the government has decided to increase the excise duty on petrol and diesel. From Tuesday, April 8, the price of LPG will increase by Rs 50 per cylinder.
Digital Desk, New Delhi. The central government has decided to increase the prices of LPG gas cylinders today (07 April). The price of the cylinder has been increased by Rs 50. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has given this information.
According to the government notification, LPG prices will increase by Rs 50 per cylinder from Tuesday, April 8. Earlier, the government has decided to increase the excise duty on petrol and diesel.
The cylinders which were being given to PMUY beneficiaries for Rs 500 till now, will now be available for Rs 550. At the same time, the price of cylinder gas available to non-beneficiaries will increase from Rs 803 to Rs 853.
Now the price of cylinder gas has increased to Rs 853
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, “The price of LPG per cylinder will increase by Rs 50. From 500 it will become Rs 550 (for PMUY beneficiaries) and for others it will increase from Rs 803 to Rs 853. This is a move which we will review going forward.
The Union Minister further said, “We review it every 2-3 weeks. So, the burden of the increase in excise duty that you have seen will not be passed on to the consumers on petrol and diesel. The purpose of that excise duty increase is to compensate the oil marketing companies Rs 43,000 crore, which they have incurred as a loss on the gas part.”
