Earlier, where there were long queues and lots of paperwork, now you can do the same work online from home using a smartphone or laptop. If you are planning to travel abroad, then it would be better to complete the process of getting a passport right now. Here we are telling you the complete process of applying for a passport online.
Start with Passport Seva Portal
To get an online passport, first go to the passport service portal https://passportindia.gov.in. Click on the “New User Registration” option to create a new account here. Fill in the basic information asked and complete the registration.
Login and fill the form
After registration, login to the portal with your login ID and password. Then select “Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue”. After this an application form will open in which you have to fill your name, address, date of birth, educational qualification and other important information.
Appointment and Payment
After submitting the form, the option “Pay and Schedule Appointment” will appear. From here, book an appointment for Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO) and pay the required fees. After payment, download the application receipt containing your Application Reference Number (ARN) and appointment details.
Documents and Verification
On the date of appointment, go to PSK/RPO with original documents and their photocopies. There the biometric process and document verification takes place. After this the process of police verification takes place.
Passport will be delivered home by post
Once the verification is complete, your passport reaches your address through speed post within a few days.
