Indian Railway: IRCTC has denied the claim going viral on social media regarding Tatkal ticket booking in railways. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Friday clarified on social media that there has been no change in the time of Tatkal and Premium Tatkal ticket booking.

In fact, recently it was claimed in some social media posts that the Railways is changing the time of Tatkal ticket booking from April 15. Putting an end to these rumors, IRCTC has clarified that there has been no change in the time of Tatkal ticket booking. That is, if you are planning to book Tatkal ticket on or after April 15, then rest assured. The time of ticket booking is the same as before.

What did IRCTC say?

On the social media platform X, IRCTC has written, it is being claimed in some social media posts that the time of booking of Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets has changed. But the reality is that there has been no change in the booking timing of Tatkal or Premium Tatkal tickets of any class, AC or Non-AC. Apart from this, the booking time for ticket agents is also the same as before.”

What is the booking timing?

Tatkal booking for AC class (2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) starts at 10 am. Whereas, booking for Non-AC class (SL/FC/2S) starts at 11 am. IRCTC also clarified that if a train opens on August 2, then Tatkal booking for AC class will start on August 1 at 10 am, and for Non-AC at 11 am.

Apart from this, IRCTC has said that Tatkal e-ticket can be booked from the source station only one day before the journey. A maximum of 4 tickets can be booked on each PNR. Tatkal charge is extra in the ticket price. Both Confirmed and Waitlisted tickets can be booked under Tatkal quota.
