Amid the turmoil after Trump’s tariffs, markets around the world have collapsed. In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225 has fallen by 6%, Korea’s KOSPI by 4.50%, China’s Shanghai Index (SSE Composite Index) by 6.50% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index by 10%. Similar situation has been seen in American markets. On April 3, Dow Jones fell by 3.98%, S&P 500 Index by 4.84% and Nasdaq Composite by 5.97%.

  1. Trump’s tariff bomb

US President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs all over the world including 26% on India. In this, 46% tariff has been imposed on Vietnam, 34% on China, 25% on South Korea, 24% on Japan and 20% on the European Union. Since then, the stock market has been falling.

  1. China’s counter-attack on America

In response to America’s reciprocal tariff, China announced a 34% retaliatory tariff on it on Friday, 4 April, which will come into effect from 10 April. Its effect is also being seen on the markets.

  1. Investors’ confidence shaken

The US tariff will make goods expensive and purchases will decrease, which can affect the growth of the economy. Crude oil prices have also fallen due to low demand. Weak economic signals have created a stir among investors and their confidence is being shaken.
