Tata Harrier EV Launch Date: Tata is set to launch the electric edition of its Harrier car model in the Indian market on June 3. After being showcased at the Auto Expo in January, Tata has now confirmed the launch date.
Tata Harrier EV Exterior Design
The Tata Harrier electric edition looks largely similar to the diesel Harrier facelift. The LED headlamps are positioned vertically below the plate-like DRLs. These are connected to a full-length light bar. The swan-shaped wheel arches and floating roof effect are all similar to the diesel Harrier. At the rear, it also gets a connected light bar and vertical fog lamps mounted on the bumper.
Tata Harrier EV Edition gets a facelift
The shield of the grille looks unique, the front bumper is given a chrome-trimmed air dam like the one found on the Curve electric edition. While there is no official announcement regarding the size of the alloy wheels, it is expected to be offered in the range of 17 to 19 inches. The “.EV” badge on the front door and the “HARRIER. EV” badge on the tailgate make it unique. Additionally, the body cladding has been finished in silver for uniqueness.
Tata Harrier EV Interior
Tata released a teaser last March that showed the interior of the new electric edition Harrier. Accordingly, the electric edition is consistent with various features found on the existing standard Harrier. For example, the two-tone dashboard and touch-based HVAC controls continue as before. It features a floating touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and a 4-spoke steering wheel, similar to the one found on the Harrier. The Harrier EV also gets new terrain modes, connected car features and over-the-air updates.
Harrier Platform
The upcoming electric car will not be built on a new platform, but will be based on the Omega platform that the engine edition was built on. However, the platform has undergone significant modifications for the electric vehicle. The chassis and floor of the new car have been modified to accommodate the new battery and electrical equipment. Tata calls this the Acti.ev (Gen 2) architecture. It is worth noting that Tata also modified the engine edition’s Alpha platform in a similar manner while manufacturing the Punch electric edition.
Battery, Performance
While the diesel edition had front-wheel drive technology, the all-wheel drive system provided in the new electric edition is considered a major re-engineering and cost-intensive move. AWD is easily achieved by adding an electric motor at the rear. A more powerful rear-axle mounted motor has been provided to improve performance. Through this, it can produce 500Nm of traction capacity.
Although the battery size of the Harrier is not confirmed yet, it is said that it will be larger than the 55 KWh unit in the Curve model. It is noteworthy that Tata has already announced that it will provide a range of 500 km when fully charged. It is noteworthy that it has vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-load charging capability.
Tata Harrier EV Price
The price of the Tata Harrier electric edition is said to be set between Rs. 20 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh. The electric car could rival Mahindra’s XEV 9e in the Indian electric car market. The Harrier electric edition will join Tata’s electric cars in the Indian market, including the Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Nexon and Curve. Meanwhile, Tata’s Ciara electric car edition is also set to be launched soon.
