Instagram’s awesome feature is coming to WhatsApp; posting statuses is about to become twice as fun.

Until now, WhatsApp Statuses would automatically disappear after 24 hours and never reappear; however, an impressive feature—similar to the one on Instagram—is now coming to the app, allowing users to archive their statuses. Let’s take a look at how this new feature will work and when it will be available.

Instagram’s awesome feature is coming to WhatsApp; posting statuses is about to become twice as fun.

WhatsApp is rapidly updating its platform with new features. The company is now introducing an interesting feature for users who enjoy posting status updates. Many WhatsApp users love sharing status updates, and if you are one of them, there is good news. Reports suggest that WhatsApp is preparing to bring an Instagram-like feature to the platform, allowing Android users to save their expired status updates in a private archive. Much like Instagram, this upcoming feature will provide an easy way to automatically store and manage status updates after they disappear. Let’s find out how this new feature will work…

Currently, WhatsApp status updates vanish after 24 hours and cannot be accessed again unless the user has saved them separately on their phone. Issues arise when users share important photos, videos, or updates directly via WhatsApp.

Status will remain saved even after expiring

With the new status archive feature, WhatsApp will automatically save expired status updates in a private section of the app instead of permanently deleting them.

WhatsApp status archive feature

WABetaInfo, a website that tracks new WhatsApp features, has reported details about this new addition. According to the report, “When we first mentioned this feature, it was in the development phase and not ready for beta testing. In the weeks since, WhatsApp has refined and improved the feature ahead of its official release.”

The report states that archived status updates will be visible only to the account owner; other users will not be able to access these saved updates. This feature is designed to help users preserve memories and important content without altering the temporary nature of status updates.

How the status archive feature will work

Users who receive the feature will be able to enable the status archive via the ‘Storage and Data’ section within WhatsApp settings. Once enabled, expired statuses will be saved automatically. Users can access them via the ‘Updates’ tab by selecting the status archive option. WhatsApp is also providing access to archived status updates through the ‘Manage Storage’ section.

This feature is currently available to a select group of users running the latest WhatsApp beta version on Android. WhatsApp has not confirmed when the feature will be released to all users, but a wider rollout is expected in the coming weeks.
