Jio has introduced a special anniversary offer for the JioBharat 4G phone to mark its 10th anniversary. For ₹1,499, the phone comes with six months of connectivity benefits.
To mark its 10th anniversary, Reliance Jio has launched a special ‘Anniversary Offer’ for JioBharat feature phone users. Timed for the festive season, this offer is specifically designed for users who are currently using 2G feature phones and wish to upgrade to a 4G network. Under this offer, select JioBharat 4G phones are available for ₹1,499, inclusive of six months of connectivity benefits.
Customers availing of this offer will receive 14GB of data and unlimited HD voice calling every month for a period of six months. This translates to a total of 84GB of data and unlimited voice calling over the six-month duration. These benefits are subject to applicable terms and conditions.
An opportunity for 2G users to upgrade to 4G
According to Jio, 2G users would typically need to spend around ₹199 per month on recharges over a six-month period, amounting to a total expenditure of approximately ₹1,200 on connectivity. In contrast, the Anniversary Offer provides the JioBharat 4G phone along with six months of connectivity for a total of ₹1,499.
Based on this calculation, Jio states that the effective upgrade cost for the device is just ₹299. In other words, according to the company, if the cost of a standard six-month recharge is excluded, the user effectively incurs an additional expense of around ₹299 to switch from a 2G phone to a 4G phone. However, this calculation is based on the recharge benefits included in the offer and the eligibility criteria.
JioBharat is more than just a calling phone
JioBharat has been introduced with more digital features compared to traditional 2G feature phones. Along with 4G connectivity, the phone offers users access to entertainment, digital payments, and family safety features. Users can watch content from over 500 TV channels via JioTV. Additionally, live cricket, movies, and entertainment content are available on JioHotstar. Users also get access to music and other digital content.
For digital payments, JioBharat includes UPI functionality via JioPay. Features such as payment alerts and a ‘Sound Box’ are also available, making it easier to use digital payments on a feature phone.
2000mAh battery and 4G connectivity
The JioBharat phone features a 2.4-inch display and a 2000mAh battery. Thanks to 4G network support, users enjoy superior connectivity compared to older 2G feature phones. The company states that this offer aims to bring millions of users across the country—who are still using 2G phones—into the fold of digital services.
