Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, has gone down for thousands of users today (July 18). Frustrated users have lodged complaints about the platform, with many reporting that tweets or X posts are failing to load. X is experiencing widespread global downtime, preventing many users from utilizing their accounts for various activities. At the time of writing this article, the number of complaints on DownDetector has exceeded 800. Approximately 50 percent of these users are facing issues with the app, 23 percent are experiencing problems with the feed and timeline, and around 10 percent are encountering difficulties with the website.

Complaints continue to surge, with the latest updates indicating the figure has already surpassed 1,500. Affected users report that the app is not functioning correctly; some are unable to refresh their feeds or like posts. Additionally, users are facing trouble accessing various sections of the app and are unable to post content.

Fewer issues in India

Regarding X’s Indian servers, the number of complaints remains limited, staying below 100. Most of these complaints relate to the mobile app and feed functionality. In India, 44 percent of users reported app-related issues, 25 percent cited problems with the feed and timeline, and 18 percent reported server connection issues.

How to fix X posts (tweets) not loading?

If X posts or tweets fail to load, first check if there is a server outage. If everything appears normal, verify your network connection and disable any active VPNs. You can also try updating the X app via your phone’s app store or refreshing the browser page. You can also try clearing the cache to see if the app is functioning correctly. Additionally, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. However, if many people are facing issues with X, it implies the problem lies with the company, and you will have to wait for them to resolve it. So far, X has neither commented on this outage nor disclosed the reason behind it.

Some users reported seeing a new layout

Meanwhile, many users also discussed the platform’s new layout. One user wrote, “Woke up this morning to find Twitter (I will never call it X) looking quite different. I can even see a ‘thumbs down’ reaction. Is getting a lot of ‘thumbs down’ a badge of honor?” Although we did not see the new layout ourselves, if X has indeed made changes to the app, it is possible that this caused a temporary service disruption; however, this remains unconfirmed.
